BIOGRAPHY

Zohra Coday is an American concertina player hailing from St. Louis. Fascinated by an Irish music and dance performance she saw in preschool, Zohra started her journey of learning Irish arts and culture at the age of 9. She studied under the supervision of Helen Gannon, T.C.R.G.,  at the Comhaltas Ceoltóirií Éireann branch of St. Louis Irish Arts.

 

Zohra quickly excelled at Irish music and dance, and within a short time went on to compete in both Irish music and dance, travel internationally for music, and to be invited to prestigious events showcasing Irish arts.

 

 Zohra graduated from the Irish World Academy of Music and Dance, University of  Limerick, where she completed her M.A. in Irish Traditional Music Performance with renowned  concertina player, Tommy Fitzharris. 

 

After years of extensive Irish traditional music and  dance training at St. Louis Irish Arts, Zohra is an award-winning concertina player and competitive Irish step dancer. Having competed at various events, such as the Midwest Fleadh Cheoil, the All-Ireland Fleadh Cheoil Na n’Eireann, and other prestigious competitions, Zohra has developed extensive practical and performative skills and  techniques.

 

Outside of the competitive sphere, Zohra performs at several events, teaches students of all ages and abilities, and composes original Irish tunes.
